Rab, in fact, comes quite handy here and is referred to every few minutes by someone or the other, and very often in long, boring monologues that characters deliver aloud to themselves.

Going back to the oldest trick in the book to solve all his screenplay problems, director Aditya Chopra drags in Rab, or God to solve the film’s decidedly uncomfortable conflict of whether Taani should run away with her lover, who’s actually her husband-in-disguise or whether she should stay with her husband? You see, the message this film delivers repeatedly is that you know it’s real love when you see Rab or God in another human being. She’s progressive enough to think it’s cool to be having gol-gappa eating matches with a male friend, but conveniently forgets to tell him she’s married. Never once does she remember or refer to either her fiancé or her father in the film. It’s difficult to get your head around Taani, easily the film’s most confusing character, who takes the drastic step of marrying a man she doesn’t love on the urging of her deathbed-bound father, when her fiancé is killed in a road accident. To be honest, even if you are willing to buy into that bizarre premise – that Taani fails to recognize her own husband because he’s shaved his moustache, lost the spectacles and picked a funky hairstyle – Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is still an exhausting watch because it’s such a predictable story, because it recycles the same old clichés, and because the characters are so poorly developed. Picked to be partners in a local dance contest, the lady and her husband-in-disguise, Raj, become fast friends, until she finds herself falling for him.

Shah Rukh Khan plays Surinder Sahni, a working-class simpleton from Amritsar who goes in for an image makeover, and poses as a cooler, trendier fellow so he can woo his young, distracted wife Taani (played by newcomer Anushka Sharma).
RAB NE BANA DI JODI MOVIE MOVIE
Also, i wholly recommend this movie as a Family watch – to find a movie with not even an ounce of vulgarity in this time and age – hats off to the movie just for that!īut on the whole, i can give this movie a “ 3.5” and nothing more.Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi directed by Aditya Chopra, is a film that hangs from a threadbare premise that is hard to swallow. Of the music, the title track was probably the most unappealing! “Dance pe chance” and “Haule Haule” are the ones that stay with you the most.Ī must-watch for the acting but don’t expect too much from the story.

A sudden twist entwines their lives together and the rest of the story is about the changes that Surinder brings in himself and his life to win his wifes love.Īs far as acting skills are concerned – both Anushka Sharma and Shahrukh khan do full justice to their respective roles! In fact – Anushka Sharma – being a newcomer – handles her role with aplomb.īut there was lot desired of the storyline due to which the movie dragged with only a few scenes making an impact – the most notable being Anushka Sharmas motorcycle scene and Shahrukh khans when he finds out that his wife does love him!Īlso, the ending was quite unrealistic but then since most of the movie was so – i guess this point must be overlooked. Surinder (Shahrukh Khan) is an ordinary nerdy looking middle class man who falls in love at first sight with Taani (Anushka Sharma) – a fun loving bubly girl. Rab ne bana di jodi may be a hit but its not what i would call a superhit! ( Anushka Sharma, bollywood, hindi movie, hindi movie reviews, hindi movies, movie, movie review, Rab ne bana di jodi, review, Shahrukh khan) Since then, i have searched the net for her pictures but still am unable to decide wether Anushka Sharmas is fat, ugly, thin, pretty, beautiful or simply a plain jane – What do you think? Still, i noticed that her face kept changing through out the movie – for example, when she takes those dancing classes – she suddenly looks so thin and slim! Ufsos, my first impression of her was not at all positive – i thought she looked too old (no way does she look 19 i thought!) and overweight and i could not imagine why anyone would take her on as a herione!īut the scene which made me sit up and do a complete 360 degrees (exactly like Shahrukh khan in the movie) was the first party they had at home of Shahrukhs office friends – when she comes out wearing the red shalwar kameez – she looks totally and completely amazing! The first time i saw Anushka Sharma was when she got off the train in her red shaadi ka jora….
